I want you to know I'm hooked on your blog. I saw you featured on HGH and came right on over. I read your blog from start to finish and it's wonderful. I'm mommy to 5 year old MG, soon to be 3 year old MB and 7 month old twin MBB. I love doing my MGs hair and I'm in transition with my own hair but I feel like I run into snags. Thanks to Katie at HGH, I've found ways to let her know how beautiful her crown is and she loves her hair. We are still having issues with length as her length has been the same for over a year now. We use Honeysuckle Rose Conditioner and Taliah Waahid leave in conditioner along with coconut, olive and shea butter. Is there anything you would recommend? Thanks so much for all the hard work you do!
Thanks Lara--I'm glad you're here! Sounds like you're already on the right track. Length retention is all about keeping what you've got as new hair comes in. I recommend protective styling, gentle handling and lots of patience. Throw in a healthy dose of realistic expectations and you won't be disappointed.
Oh and Lara--someone pointed out to me that when looking at our growing girls we should consider their bodies are getting bigger as their hair grows longer. Sometimes it can seem like their hair hasn't gone anywhere, but it's because the proportions of their body has changed. It may be easier to determine progress by measuring the hair with a tape measure. In the interim, I'm glad to hear you are celebrating where she is.
Thanks for that tip Natacha. I'll keep that in mind. I took a page from your book and when I styled my daughter's hair last night, I did the braid/twists. She loves the faux hawk and wanted to whip her hair back and forth while she endlessly admired her new do in the mirror!
Hello, could you tell me what happened to Happy Girl Hair? I can't find it, and I heavily depend on her site for learning and inspirations. Please help!
That was so cool to see you featured on Happy Girl Hair a couple of days ago!
ReplyDeleteFunny thing is I completely missed it! A friend on Facebook congratulated me on my personal page--I just saw it! LOL!

ReplyDeletei really don't know. I'm sorry.
DeleteHappy Girl Hair: if you go to her blog there's a letter saying why she's gone. But why did she have to take down her gallery?!?!?!
ReplyDeleteThat was my thought as well. I understand not wanting to continue but to no longer allow folks to learn from her past is really disappointing.
DeleteShe will definitely be missed.
