Braid Out Fro | Heat Free Method Stretching Natural Hair (textured stretch)

Hey Mocha Family!

I announced in the video above that I miss my locks and will probably start a new set when my hair is longer.  It's a loose plan.  Who knows?

Sometimes I really miss my locks and can barely stand to watch videos of myself wearing them.  Yet I can honestly say that I love the short fro and the way it makes me look.  Maybe I need to consider some sort of braid extension style so I can go back and forth between both looks.

Time will definitely tell, but I find it to be exhilarating to change my hair up fearlessly, whether it means chopping it all off, or adopting a style that was considered deviant by some people not that long ago.   I love the way things have changed for us and could have never imagined it when I started my natural hair journey in 1994.

Be blessed!

  1. You look so cute. One of the things that has always been helpful to me w/ your blog is the open way that you speak about hair texture, shrinkage, and changing up a plan because the hair had other ideas. It gave me so much confidence to work w/ my daughter's hair and to realize that when I had to revamp a plan it wasn't necessariy because I was clueless! LOL Now my youngest is on her loc journey and she loves it.

Mocha Girl One's baby hair was silky straight and fine. As the weeks rolled by, it became wavier until she had a lovely curly fro. I washed it all the time . I brushed it several times a day . I tried snap clips, and moved to velcro barrets when the clips slid out. I bought a different head band for every outfit. Meanwhile her curls continued to wind tighter and tighter. I kept everything in a pretty box, dubbed the hair bin . I was really frustrated at not b...
